Upstaged: "Mystery about a Musical" Available for Pre-Order!

Once in a while we let ourselves do a bit of self-promoting here on Murderby4.

Well, it's my turn, LOL.

It's been a long time coming. This eBook, print, and audio book are the "author's preferred editions" with new plot twists and new chapters. We've had so much fun with this one, and I just love the cover Ardy Scott designed for my publisher, Lida Quillen at Twilight Times Books, don't you? If you look closely, you'll see little Boris (Camille's mini-dachshund) peeking out behind the curtain!

Here's a little bit about the story:

-->
When Gus LeGarde agrees to play piano for the high school drama club’s production of “Spirit Me Away,” a sixties-style musical he wrote in college, he doesn’t expect to face a barrage of menacing pranks played on his fiancée, Camille and the cast and crew of the drama club. Who’s sabotaging the show? And what do they have against Camille?

Is it sex-crazed Armand, the Latino teen infatuated with her? Something happened last year that Camille won’t talk about, and it has to do with Armand. Gus wants to know what it is, but she’s not talking.

Could it be Superintendent Marshall, whose past holds horrific secrets related to one of the worst crimes of the 20th century? And why did someone break into Camille’s home, taking her intimate undergarments and stealing her beloved mini-dachshund, Boris?

Gus must unravel the mystery before the backstage saboteur stakes his final, deadly claim.

Twilight Times Books: Critically acclaimed Literary, Mystery and SF/F books

My daughter, Melanie Carbonneau, has also written a whole album of original songs to go with the book. They are truly beautiful - upbeat, joyous, and sad, too. Not only did she write the music, but she sings it, too! She's an unemployed singer, so anything you can do to support her would be great! ;o)
You can pre-order the CD and listen to some excerpts here. Check out BLUEBIRD, a new ballad we just finished. It will bring tears to your eyes!

Thanks for your time, folks. I'll let you know when the audio book is out - it will include all the songs in the CD. Pretty neat, huh?

Best wishes to all,

Release Day!

Today, my new story is being released. LOVE WALTZES IN.

It's about finding love after 40, and finding love in a totally unexpected place. If that sounds like something you are into, please do go and check it out!

I’ve waited a long time for this one to come out, in fact it has been in the works for almost a year, and I thank Nancy, and the others in the Forever Yours series who dreamed up their stories to contribute. I have seen several of the others in the series get great reviews and I hope to join them.

Now the hard part. Have to get out of my writing chair to go out and promote it!

Love the readers who stop by blogs and such to congratulate me and tell me they like my work. I am doing this writing thing for them. And for you!

Go to RED ROSE PUBLISHING to get your copy today!

Yay for release day!

What is a Press Release? What is a press release?

Press releases are articles that give news people a story about you or your accomplishment that will be placed in a newspaper or other media. Most all authors once their book is slated for release need to learn how to write a press release.

Some ways to make your press release shine are:

Keep it in third person. Write about your book or yourself as though you are your best friend telling someone else about you.

Keep it short. Most news media place press releases in slots that are slimmed down. They usually have no place for anything over two pages. This means you are going to have to stop being so wordy and say what you mean in as few words as possible.

Keep the reader involved. If at all possible include your book signings, release date, etc. so that interested parties will be encouraged to do something. Action on the part of a reader is always a good thing.

Keep it exciting. No one wants to read a news story, especially human interest, if it isn’t moving, exciting, or otherwise newsworthy. No different for your press release.

And lastly, think of who will want to read about you or your book and try to target a place for publication of your press release that will garner the most interest, ie. where will this press release fit into? A newspaper editor is a very busy person, and you don’t want to make any enemies at the local rag.

If you include a bio, a headshot, and a jpg of your book cover, you will have an entire press kit, and you know, this article has reminded me I really need to update mine. Hope this has helped you!
