How to Blow a Book Deal

No, it wasn't me. :-) A little blog-wandering the other day landed me at the blog of an editorial assistant (definition: a person who has the power to make an offer for and publish your book, despite the 'assistant' label) for a major house, who had a lunch with an agent and her author that went a tad bit south.

Her post says it all.

Thanks for the link. I would say that I'm amazed at how poorly some people market themselves, but I've interviewed so many people for jobs over the years who have done the same kind of thing that I almost expect it. I think some people are just programmed to self-destruct.

Wow! What a train wreck. You'd think they'd have heard the warning bells, but no, just kept trundling along head first into that pit.
