My to-be-read stack

If you are like me, you have a stack of books to be read. I keep one. It gets moved from my bedroom to my living room to my kitchen to my bathroom to my family room, so I can not say it isn't portable, *smile*.

I will say that it is expandable, too, as it grows taller every week. I am such a book junkie, I just can't seem to stop buying books. I would love to get more read, but I am not too well organized between writing, promoting, working, and family life. I need an assistant.*Roll eyes*

I carry my books with me on all errands, do you do that? I always have a book in my purse, my car, my hubby's car. My biggest problem is trying to read too many at one time. I will be reading a cozy in bed, a suspense thriller in the car (cuz who wants to be full of adrenaline whilst trying to get sleepy, right?). I will keep a non fiction book on my desk in the kitchen for ideas about this or that.

I suppose if I told you all the books I had to be read, you would be surprised at the versatility of my reading life. I just listened to my dear Mama who said, "Broaden your horizons." I think a book is a tool in the hands of a curious mind. That's why I love authors so much. They are my teachers.

Now that I have begun to purchase e-books, I am going to have a lot less time to surf the web, because when I have a virtual stack of to-be-read books, and a real-time stack of to-be-read books, I am going to be surrounded. Literally. Or is that literarily?

Such are the trials of a writer/reader. My stack continues to grow too.

I've read several books this year, but not nearly the number I'd like to read. There's just nothing better than to curl up with a good book you can put down. :)But these days, there's never enough time to do it all, and when deadlines loom, we answer the call.

I'm askig Santa for a few more hours in the day this year. :)

I'd read all the time if I could get away with it. Nothing like a good book, a cup of hot chocolate, & my favourite throw. Curled up on the chesterfield, with a fire roaring in the fireplace, ah, now that's the life.

I should probably confess that I buy most of my books at garage sales. I love the feel of a new book, but my pocket book declines to share that enthusiasm. (sigh)

Boy, do I hear you on this, Kim! We've got books everywhere. Every room of the house, plus the car. :-) Back in the summer, we went to a library sale thinking "oh, we'll just pick up a couple of new books..."

We ended up bringing home six big boxes of books, an entire encyclopedia set, and a box of National Geographic magazines. My husband had to leave me at the library and drive the books home, then come back and pick me up!

I'm happy to say that even my son reads. At the moment he's reading a novel based on his favorite online roleplaying game, the last book in the Artemis Fowl series, and Marta's first novel (Silenced Cry).

Hooray for books!

I'm worried that my life is in jeopardy again - my to-be-read pile is growing enormous. Usually when the stack becomes a toppling tower, I take the bottom half and shelve them. Of course, now I have all these shelved books I want to read. I'm with Martha, gonna ask for more hours in the day from Santa! LOL.

The old adage "So many books, so little time" is more than just an adage; it's a truism!

Like you, I have been buying (and reading!) more e-books. They are just so darn convenient! But that doesn't mean my TBR stacks are getting smaller.

I plan to read much more again, now that the elections have been decided -- well, most of them!

Not only do I have a large physical stack of TBR books, but I also have a long list of "to be requested from the library" books.
sigh.
